Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir on March 7, 2024, where he will participate in the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir’ program at Bakshi Stadium. During this event, he will dedicate the ‘Holistic Agriculture Development Programme,’ worth approximately Rs 5000 crore, aimed at boosting the agricultural economy in the region.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate multiple tourism-related projects valued at over Rs 1400 crore under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes. These projects include the ‘Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine’ in Srinagar, J&K, and various tourism facilities across different circuits in states like Meghalaya, Bihar, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh.
The ‘Holistic Agriculture Development Programme’ (HADP) is designed to integrate activities in horticulture, agriculture, and livestock husbandry, benefiting around 2.5 lakh farmers in Jammu and Kashmir. The program aims to establish approximately 2000 Kisan Khidmat Ghars and create robust value chains for the welfare of the farming community, ultimately leading to employment generation for thousands of families in the region.
The dedication of the ‘Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine’ project seeks to enhance the spiritual experience of pilgrims visiting the shrine by improving infrastructure and amenities. Components of this project include site development, illumination, improvement of ghats and devri paths, construction of a Sufi interpretation center, tourist facilitation center, and more.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi will launch 43 projects aimed at developing pilgrimage and tourist sites across the country. These include religious sites like the Annavaram Temple in Andhra Pradesh, Navagraha Temples in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, and various other temples and cultural heritage sites nationwide.
Moreover, Prime Minister Modi will announce 42 tourist destinations selected under the Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) Scheme, promoting sustainable tourism and competitiveness in the sector. Additionally, he will launch the ‘Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024’ poll to engage citizens in identifying preferred tourist attractions and perceptions.
Lastly, Prime Minister Modi will initiate the ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign’ to encourage Indian diaspora members to promote tourism to India, leveraging their influence to attract non-Indian tourists. This campaign aims to harness the potential of overseas Indians as cultural ambassadors and boost Indian tourism on a global scale.
