Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Goa on February 6, 2024, for a series of significant inaugurations and events that underscore India’s focus on energy self-sufficiency and infrastructural development. The day’s agenda includes the inauguration of the ONGC Sea Survival Centre, participation in India Energy Week 2024, and the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047 program.

India Energy Week 2024: A Catalyst for Energy Transition

A crucial aspect of the visit is the inauguration of India Energy Week 2024, underscoring Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to achieving Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in energy. This comprehensive energy exhibition and conference, spanning from February 6 to 9 in Goa, aims to bring together the entire energy value chain. The event is anticipated to facilitate India’s transition towards sustainable and self-sufficient energy solutions.

As part of India Energy Week 2024, Prime Minister Modi will engage in a roundtable discussion with global oil and gas CEOs and experts, emphasizing collaborative efforts in shaping the energy landscape. The event will spotlight the integration of startups into the energy value chain and will host participants from around 17 countries, 35,000+ attendees, and over 900 exhibitors. Dedicated country pavilions and a Make in India Pavilion will showcase innovative solutions, with a particular focus on Canadian, German, Dutch, Russian, British, and American contributions.

Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047: Infrastructure Milestones

In the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047 program, the Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects valued at over Rs. 1330 crores. Highlights include the inauguration of the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology Goa, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for students and staff.

Additionally, the new campus of the National Institute of Watersports will be dedicated, to introducing tailored courses to promote watersports and water rescue activities. The Prime Minister will inaugurate a 100 TPD Integrated Waste Management Facility in South Goa, designed for scientific waste treatment and featuring a 500 KW solar power plant.

Furthermore, the foundation stone for a Passenger ropeway connecting Panaji and Reis Magos, a 100 MLD Water Treatment Plant in South Goa, and other significant projects will be laid during the visit. The distribution of appointment orders and sanction letters for various welfare schemes will further mark the commitment to inclusive development.

ONGC Sea Survival Centre: Elevating Sea Survival Training

The day will commence with the Prime Minister inaugurating the ONGC Sea Survival Centre, a pioneering initiative to enhance India’s sea survival training standards. This integrated training center is designed to simulate harsh weather conditions, training thousands annually to significantly improve sea survival skills and response to real-life disasters.
