Prime Minister Narendra Modi Unveils New Crop Varieties at IARI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 109 new high-yielding, climate-resilient, and biofortified crop varieties at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi. These varieties, encompassing 61 crops, include 34 field crops and 27 horticultural crops. The new seeds aim to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.

During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of value addition in agriculture and the benefits of natural and organic farming. He highlighted the shift towards nutritious foods, such as millet, and encouraged increased consumption and demand for organic produce. The Prime Minister also noted the positive environmental impact of these new crop varieties.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with farmers and scientists, discussing the advantages of the new crop varieties, which are expected to reduce expenditure and improve environmental sustainability.
