Purple Fest: President Murmu will inaugurate tomorrow

Purple Fest: Amidst the grandeur of Rashtrapati Bhawan’s Amrit Udyaan, the spirit of inclusivity will reign supreme as the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) hosts the ‘Purple Fest’ on February 26, 2024. This day-long celebration, inaugurated by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu, promises to be a joyous occasion, uniting over 10 thousand Divyangjans and their escorts from across the nation.

As the Ministers of Social Justice & Empowerment and Secretary of DEPwD grace the event, the ‘Purple Fest’ will serve as a testament to India’s commitment to fostering an inclusive society. Spearheaded by the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities, this fest aims to raise awareness about disabilities while challenging stereotypes and prejudices.

Central to the ‘Purple Fest’ are its fully inclusive and interactive stalls, showcasing organizations dedicated to accessibility, inclusion, and disability rights. From the enlightening ‘Know Your Disabilities’ exhibit to the vibrant ‘Purple Cafe’ and dynamic ‘Purple Sports’ activities, attendees will embark on a journey of empowerment and understanding.

Beyond the festivities, visitors are invited to explore the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum, enriching their minds while embracing the ethos of inclusivity. This fest serves as a platform for individuals to share insights and ideas for crafting a more accessible and inclusive society, promoting understanding, acceptance, and respect for persons with disabilities.

The ‘Purple Fest’ at Rashtrapati Bhawan symbolizes India’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity and empowerment. By fostering dialogue, awareness, and action, it paves the way for a future where every individual, regardless of ability, can thrive and contribute to society’s rich tapestry.
