Railways Announces Aastha Special Trains Connecting Ayodhya from Across India

Indian Railways is embarking on a new initiative to facilitate travel to Ayodhya with the introduction of Aastha Special trains. In the aftermath of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla, these special trains are set to commence operations from January 30, connecting devotees from across the country to the sacred city.

The Aastha Special trains will traverse through North-Eastern states, including Assam, Tripura, Guwahati, Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand, providing a crucial link from the North-East to Purvanchal. The route includes stops at PDDU Nagar Station and Varanasi Cantt, enhancing connectivity for pilgrims.

“With 32 trains passing through PDDU Nagar Station and Varanasi Cantt, authorities are ensuring tight security for the devotee-filled trains. Following the Railway Board’s notification, stations have been instructed to provide comprehensive information on security measures”.

Scheduled to operate from January 30 to March 3, the Aastha Special trains will feature general, sleeper, and AC coaches, catering to the diverse needs of passengers. Trains originating from seven North-Eastern states will have designated stoppages, further facilitating convenient travel for devotees.

The inaugural run on January 30 will witness the first train departure from Tatanagar, followed by trains from Bhagalpur and Howrah. Subsequent trains will depart from Puri, Vardhaman, and the North East on January 31. This pattern of trains heading to Ayodhya via Cantt station will continue two to three days a week until March 3.

In light of the significant pilgrimage, security measures have been intensified along the railway track, with stations providing detailed information on sensitive locations and other security-related points. Varanasi Cantt station has communicated comprehensive details about sensitive areas, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have been placed on high alert to ensure the safety of stations through which Aastha Special trains will pass.
