Monsoon Trough and Cyclonic Circulations
The monsoon trough lies north of its normal position, with cyclonic circulations observed over Southwest Pakistan, North Interior Karnataka, and adjoining Telangana. A trough extends from the cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka to the Southeast Arabian Sea.
Rainfall Forecast: Weather Forecast for North, West, and Central India
Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall is expected over Northwest India, including Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Uttar Pradesh. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in these regions, with very heavy rainfall expected in East Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Rainfall Forecast for East, Northeast, and South India
East and Northeast India will experience widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Assam. South Peninsular India, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, will also see widespread light/moderate rainfall, with isolated very heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Lakshadweep on August 19-20, 2024.
