Rajeev Chandrasekhar to Address Digital India Dialogues on Revised PLI Scheme for IT Hardware.

The upcoming Digital India Dialogues session in Bengaluru will see the active participation of Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Electronics & IT. The session will specifically focus on the recently revised Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware.

Stakeholder Engagement: Fostering Innovation in IT Hardware Sector The meeting will bring together key stakeholders from the technology ecosystem, including experts, industry association representatives, and startups. The primary focus of the session will be on stimulating the development of advanced processors, intellectual properties (IPs), and embedded systems. This collaborative approach aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive and consultative policy-making.

Boosting Indigenous Manufacturing: PLI Scheme for IT Hardware The government’s PLI scheme for IT hardware seeks to incentivize the localization of components and sub-assemblies used in laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs, servers, and ultra-small form factor devices. By doing so, the scheme aims to catalyze the growth of India’s domestic IT hardware manufacturing ecosystem and nurture homegrown champions in the industry. In May, the Government approved PLI 2.0 with an outlay of Rs 17,000 crore, significantly increasing the budget for the scheme that was initially sanctioned in 2021 to attract investments and promote domestic manufacturing in the value chain. The scheme will have a cap on the maximum incentives available to participating companies.

Prospects for Growth: Economic Impact of the PLI Scheme Upon implementation, the PLI scheme is projected to drive total production worth approximately ₹ 3.35 lakh crore and attract additional investments of ₹ 2,430 crore in electronics manufacturing. Moreover, the scheme is expected to create 75,000 additional direct jobs, further contributing to the country’s economic growth and job creation initiatives.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s engagement in this crucial dialogue will help foster collaborative efforts among various stakeholders to leverage the PLI scheme’s potential and strengthen India’s position as a prominent player in the global IT hardware market.
