On the 4th of September, Rajnath Singh, the Union Minister of Defence, took center stage at the inauguration of the Parivartan Sankalp Yatra in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, and seized the opportunity to highlight the significant strides made in expanding digital infrastructure and road connectivity across India since 2014.
In his address, Rajnath Singh reminisced about the state of affairs in 2014 when only 70 gram panchayats in the country had access to broadband facilities. Fast forward to 2023, and the broadband network has penetrated over 2.5 lakh gram panchayats, thanks to the extensive optical fiber network rollout. This digital transformation has empowered rural communities with access to information, education, and opportunities like never before.
“Additionally, Rajnath Singh underscored the remarkable progress in road connectivity. In 2014, numerous villages lacked paved roads, posing challenges to transportation and connectivity. However, in 2023, an impressive 99 percent of villages across the country are now connected by metalled roads. Over the past nine years, an extensive network of 3 lakh 60 thousand kilometers of rural roads has been built, significantly improving accessibility and mobility in rural areas”.
“Rajnath Singh emphasized the significance of the Parivartan Sankalp Yatra, which commenced from Ram Devra, as it carries the message of a new India to the entire state of Rajasthan. The yatra not only symbolizes the transformative changes but also heralds the promise of a brighter future”.
