Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, at a Defence Summit in New Delhi, lauded India’s fortified defence apparatus, attributing its strength to PM Narendra Modi’s leadership and emphasis on bolstering with the essence of Indianness. Singh highlighted the transformative role of ‘perspective’ between current and past dispensations, noting the present government’s unwavering belief in India’s capabilities.
Rajnath Singh emphasized the promotion of ‘Aatmanirbharta’ in defence manufacturing as a significant change brought about by the government, shaping India’s defence sector. He delineated reformative measures by the Ministry of Defence, including setting up Defence Industrial Corridors, notification of positive indigenisation lists, and reserving 75% of the capital procurement budget for domestic industry.
Highlighting the positive impact, Singh noted the substantial increase in defence production and exports, reflecting India’s strides towards self-reliance. He reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering the defence system, resulting in India’s emergence as a powerful nation on the global stage with a robust and self-reliant military.
Rajnath Singh underscored the government’s facilitation of the private sector and promotion of youth innovation, aiming to make India a technology creator rather than a follower. He stressed the importance of shedding the colonial mindset, fostering pride in India’s heritage, and revitalizing the dreams of the youth to contribute to the nation’s growth.
Furthermore, Singh highlighted the government’s efforts to honour serving and retired personnel, including the establishment of the National War Memorial and the implementation of the One Rank One Pension scheme. He affirmed the government’s commitment to modernizing the armed forces and ensuring their well-being, in harmony with India’s cultural ethos of military power and spirituality.
