Rajnath Singh Pays Final Respects to Dr. Manmohan Singh at Last Rites

India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, along with several prominent political figures, paid their last respects to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during his last rites at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi. Dr. Singh, who passed away at the age of 92 due to age-related medical conditions, left behind a legacy of economic reforms and statesmanship.

The Final Journey

Dr. Singh’s funeral procession began at 9:30 am from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi, where party leaders and workers had gathered to offer their final tributes. Following the procession, the last rites were performed at Nigambodh Ghat, a cremation ground in the capital city.

Key Leaders Pay Their Respects

The funeral was attended by several dignitaries, including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

The attendance of such high-profile leaders highlighted the immense respect Dr. Singh commanded across political parties and nations.

Dr. Manmohan Singh served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, shaping the country’s economic landscape with significant reforms. His tenure is remembered for bringing India onto the global economic stage.
