Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh dedicated seventy-five Border Roads Organisation (BRO) infrastructure projects, spread across six States and two Union Territories, to the nation. The projects include forty-five bridges, twenty-seven roads, two helipads and a Carbon Neutral Habitat, at a total cost of Rs 2,180 crore.
The projects will bolster defence preparedness and ensure economic development of border areas. Addressing a gathering at Leh, Singh said, “Our aim is to ensure progress of far-flung areas to fulfil the security needs of the country. These projects will not only help in the defence preparedness but also ensure the economic development of these areas.”
He added that the BRO has always played a leading role in the development of these areas and that the organisation has been constructing roads, bridges and other infrastructure in difficult and inaccessible areas for many years.
