To mark the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (celebrated as Parakram Diwas) and as part of the Republic Day celebrations 2023, the Military Tattoo & Tribal Dance performances are being showcased under the banner Adi- Shaurya: Parv Parakram kain Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on 23-24 January 2023.
This event, Themed Military Tattoo & Tribal Dance, is aimed at throwing light on the contribution of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to our freedom struggle.
The event is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, with the Indian Coast Guard being the coordinating agency.
The event’s initial practice sessions began on 10 January, with the reverberations of military drums and trumpets setting the stage for traditional dance performances to blend in and represent our country’s unique cultural trends. This fosters the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat”.
Over 1200 artists are fine-tuning their art forms in rehearsals each day, with each group bringing alive a slice of India with their unique and colorful costumes, headdresses, musical instruments, and rhythmic dance beats.
Traditional dance performances to be presented during the main event include Shaad Mastih of Gaur Maria, Gaddi Nati, Siddi Dhamaal, Baiga Pardhoni, Purulia, Bagurumba, Ghusadi, Balti, Lambadi, Paika, Rathwa, Budigali, Songimukhvate, Karma, Aam, Huh. Kummikali, Palaiyar, Cheraw and Rekham Pada. The coordination of these programs and groups is done by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Paramotor gliding, hot air ballooning, horse showing, Khukuri dancing, Gatka, Mallakhamb, Kalaripayattu, Thang-ta, motorcycle displaying, Air Warrior Drill, navy banding, and martial arts are all prowesses being presented by the Indian Army in this event.
