In a recent update from the Central Water Commission (CWC), concerning the flood situation in Uttar Pradesh, a dire warning has been issued for the Fatehpur district. The focus of concern is the River Ganga at the Bhitaura location, where the water level has reached a critical point.
As per the CWC’s official flood forecast, the River Ganga at Bhitaura is currently flowing at an alarming level of 101.18 meters. This reading is notably higher than the established danger mark, which stands at 100.86 meters. This situation has been categorized as severe, indicating an immediate and high-risk scenario for the region.
“What’s particularly concerning is the steady trend in the rising water level. With a consistent increase of 0.32 meters above the danger mark, the situation is not showing signs of improvement. Local authorities and residents are urged to take urgent precautionary measures to ensure the safety of lives and property”.
“The Fatehpur district, situated along the banks of the River Ganga, is susceptible to flooding during the monsoon season. However, the severity of the current situation emphasizes the need for swift action and coordinated response from relevant authorities. Evacuation plans, emergency shelters, and relief operations should be set in motion to mitigate the potential impact of the flooding”.
The CWC’s flood forecasts play a vital role in providing timely information to local administrations and communities at risk. By monitoring river levels and predicting flood situations, these forecasts enable preparedness and response efforts to be more effective, ultimately saving lives and minimizing damage.
