Royal Enfield Unveils the Feature-Packed Himalayan 450 Series in India, Priced from Rs. 2.69 Lakh

Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer, Royal Enfield, has introduced its highly anticipated Himalayan 450 series in India, offering an array of variants to cater to diverse preferences. The base variant starts at an attractive Rs. 2.69 lahks, followed by the Slate model at Rs. 2.74 lahks, the Summit variant at Rs. 2.79 lahks, and the top-of-the-line Hanle Black variant commanding Rs. 2.84 lakh (all introductory prices, ex-showroom).

Representing a significant leap in design and technology, the new Himalayan 450 boasts a modern aesthetic and a robust build. Available in five distinctive paint schemes – Kaza Brown, Slate Himalayan 450 Salt, Slate Poppy Blue, Hanle Black, and Kamet White – the motorcycle stands as a formidable competitor to models like the KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G 310 GS, and the Yezdi Adventure in the Indian market.

Maintaining the rugged and purposeful design of its predecessor, the Himalayan 450 features a round headlight, a broad fuel tank, a windscreen, and an upright rider triangle, emphasizing its proportions. The motorcycle is equipped with comprehensive LED illumination, integrated turn signals, and a taillight.

Under the hood, the Himalayan 450 is powered by a 450cc liquid-cooled engine generating 40bhp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,500rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield has incorporated cutting-edge features, including Ride-by-Wire, a TFT screen with smartphone connectivity for navigation and media controls, and selectable ride modes (eco and performance), along with switchable ABS.

The bike rides on new WP front forks and an off-set mono-shock, coupled with front and rear disc brakes featuring dual-channel ABS. The 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels are fitted with tubed tyres, although the company is actively developing cross-spoke wheels with tubeless tyres, expected to be introduced in the Indian market in the near future.
