Early Life and Education:

Satish Kaushik’s birthplace is Mahendragarh, Haryana and he was born on April 13, 1956. He grew up in Delhi and attended Kirori Mal College, where he pursued a degree in commerce. However, he always had a passion for acting and theater, and he joined the theater group, Sambhav, while he was still in college.

Journey to Bollywood:

After completing his education, Kaushik moved to Mumbai to pursue his acting career. He started his journey by working as a film distributor and a production assistant for director Shekhar Kapoor. He also worked as an assistant director to Kundan Shah on the film “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.”

In 1983, Kaushik got his big break when he was cast in the film “Masoom.” He played the role of Naseeruddin Shah’s younger brother in the film, and his performance was highly appreciated. He went on to act in many films in the 1980s and 1990s, including “Ram Lakhan,” ” Saajan Chale Sasural,” and “Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi.”

Directing Career:

In the late 1990s, Kaushik decided to take a break from acting and focus on his directing career. He directed his first film, “Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja,” in 1993, which starred Sridevi and Anil Kapoor.

Kaushik then directed a string of successful films, including “Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain,” “Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai,” and “Tere Naam.” He also directed the critically acclaimed film, “Kaagaz,” in 2021, which starred Pankaj Tripathi.

Personal Tragedy:

Despite his successful career, Kaushik has had his fair share of personal tragedies. In 1996, his two-year-old son died due to a heart condition. Kaushik was devastated by his son’s death, and it took him a long time to recover from the tragedy. However, he eventually found solace in his work and continued to create great art.

Late Fatherhood:

In 2012, Kaushik became a father to a daughter through surrogacy. He named his daughter Vanshika, and he has been vocal about his experience of late fatherhood. In an interview, Satish said, “I feel blessed to have her in my life, & I want to be the best father I can be to her.”

On 8 March 2023, at the age of 66, Kaushik passed away due to a heart attack in Gurugram. He celebrated Holi 2023 at the residence of Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, as seen in his recent Instagram post. Satish Kaushik is a true inspiration to all of us.
