On June 10, 2024, Vice President Ahmed Afif of Seychelles called on President Droupadi Murmu of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vice President Afif represented Seychelles at the swearing-in ceremony of India’s new government held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on June 9, 2024.
During the meeting, President Murmu reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting Seychelles in its developmental aspirations and enhancing people-to-people connections and security cooperation. This commitment is guided by Vision SAGAR – Security and Growth for All in the Region.
Vice President Ahmed Afif conveyed greetings from President Wavel Ramkalawan and the people of Seychelles to President Murmu. He expressed happiness in visiting India on his first official visit. The leaders discussed India’s developmental partnership support and capacity-building assistance in Seychelles, along with the longstanding defense cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
Both leaders agreed to continue working together to further strengthen bilateral ties for mutual benefit. The meeting underscores the deepening relationship between Seychelles and India and the shared commitment to regional security and prosperity.
