Shahjahanpur: President Murmu Mourns Victims of Tragic Road Accident

President Droupadi Murmu voiced deep sadness over the tragic loss of lives in a horrific road accident that occurred in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. As news emerged of the incident claiming 11 lives and injuring several others, the President extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The fatal collision occurred when a truck, laden with stone ballast, collided with a parked bus carrying over a dozen pilgrims. Most of the victims, including women and children, were crushed to death as the truck overturned on the bus near a dhaba on Gola Bypass road in the Khutar Police station area.

Rescue operations, lasting nearly three hours, were conducted to retrieve bodies trapped under the truck. Visuals depicted the harrowing efforts of rescue teams using cranes to extricate the trapped pilgrims from the wreckage.

Ashok Kumar Meena, Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police, provided insights into the incident, stating, “Some people were at the dhaba, eating food whereas others were sitting inside the bus. There have been 11 casualties and 10 have been injured.” He further assured that all injured individuals have been admitted to a medical college for treatment.

As investigations commence into the tragic accident, authorities are urged to expedite measures to ensure road safety and prevent such devastating incidents in the future. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for enhanced safety protocols and vigilance on highways to safeguard the lives of commuters.
