Shatrughan Prasad Sinha, born on 9 December 1945, is an Indian actor and politician. He is a member of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) and represents the Asansol constituency in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India’s bicameral parliament.
He was elected as a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, earlier, from Patna Sahib (2009–2014, 2014–2019). He was also a Member of Parliament for the Rajya Sabha during 1996–2002 and 2002–2008. He was a Union Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Shipping in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
Early life:
Bhubaneswari Prasad Sinha and Shyama Devi Sinha gave birth to Sinha on 9 December 1945 in Patna, Bihar. He is the youngest of four brothers, Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, and himself. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Patna Science College.
He was a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India Pune, where he studied acting. Currently, there is a scholarship being awarded in his name to Diploma students at the institute. He started his career in the film industry when he moved to Mumbai. He is married to Poonam Sinha, who was Miss India.
