Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel, born on 15 July 1962, is an Indian politician and civil engineer serving as the 17th and current Chief Minister of Gujarat since 2021. Representing the Ghatlodia Assembly constituency in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly since 2017, he is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and began his political career in the municipal bodies of Ahmedabad.
Patel’s early life saw him earn a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Government Polytechnic, Ahmedabad, in April 1982. He has been actively involved with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and holds prominent positions such as a trustee of Sardardham Vishwa Patidar Kendra and chairman of the standing committee of Vishwa Umiya Foundation. A follower of the Akram Vignan Movement, Patel also has interests in cricket and badminton.
Throughout his career, Patel has held various significant positions, including serving as a member and president of Memnagar Nagarpalika, vice chairman of the school board of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), councilor from Thaltej Ward, and chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA). His contributions to the development of Gujarat have been widely recognized and appreciated.
