In the video, an elderly man can be seen nonchalantly taking a beedi out of his pocket, lighting it, and casually smoking it while surrounded by fellow passengers in a crowded metro compartment. Initially, no one seemed to react to this violation of the no-smoking rule, but as the video neared its end, a co-passenger could be seen pointing at the beedi and seemingly engaging in a conversation with the man.
The video quickly spread across social media platforms, prompting the public to call on the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to respond and take appropriate action.
Smoking inside the metro premises is strictly prohibited, as per the established rules, and is considered a punishable offense. The video was widely shared by various online portals, putting pressure on the DMRC to enforce the rules and address the safety concerns within the metro system.
