Today, the graduation ceremony of the 2015 and 2016 batches of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Dental College and Hospital, Rohini was held at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The Chief Guest was Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Labour and Employment, and Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The occasion was graced by Shri Rameswar Teli, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, and Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ms Aarti Ahuja, Secretary, Minister Labour and Employment, Dr Rajendra Kumar, DG, ESIC and Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasth University, Delhi.
The Union Ministers awarded merit certificates and scrolls to the graduates of ESIC Dental College. Shri Bhupender Yadav said that rendering medical services is the best way to serve society and congratulated the young graduates.
In his address to the students, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shri Rameswar Teli, applauded the efforts made by the doctors and para-medical staff of ESIC during the uncertain time of Covid-19 for serving the needy.
He further said that the Union government is focused towards creating an infrastructure for easy access to medical services for the workers of our country.
“The implementation of the Social Security Code will increase the number of workers under the ESI Scheme many times over,” said Ms. Arti Ahuja, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
She said that ESIC’s work is going to increase manyfold in the coming future and that ESIC should be geared up for it.
ESIC said that it is poised to play a bigger role as unorganized sector workers will come under the ambit of ESI Schemes once the Social Security Code is implemented.
He said that the ecosystem of ESIC is going to grow enormously. He further said that ESIC is working with the vision of utilizing the latest innovations in medical services to provide the best training to doctors and the best equipment in medical colleges and hospitals.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India established the ESIC Dental College in Rohini, Delhi in 2010. This was the corporation’s first foray into dental and medical education. The ESIC Dental College is the third government dental college in the Delhi NCR region.
It currently has an annual intake of up to 62 students who are admitted for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is affiliated with this college.
In 2014, the college was recognized by the DCI and began following the course structure prescribed by the council. The college is also associated with a 300 bedded hospital located within the premises, which has modern operating rooms and a 10 bedded ICU in addition to outpatient facilities in various medical departments.
The 68 students of the 2015-16 batch graduated today and were awarded certificates.
