Significant Farmer Support: ₹80,848 Crore Transferred under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

Keshav Prasad Maurya, a significant figure in Uttar Pradesh’s political landscape, has underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to improving the economic condition of farmers, often referred to as “Annadata,” through a series of progressive measures. In a recent statement, he shed light on several initiatives aimed at empowering the agricultural community and enhancing their livelihoods.

One of the cornerstone initiatives is the Pradhan Mantri Samman Nidhi (PM Samman Nidhi) scheme, through which the Uttar Pradesh government has consistently prioritized the prosperity of farmers. Maurya emphasizes that this commitment stems from recognizing the crucial role farmers play in the nation’s sustenance.

Highlighting the strides made, Maurya proudly stated, “A loan of ₹36,000 crore of 86 lakh farmers was waived,” revealing the significant financial relief provided to farmers who often face the burden of agricultural loans. This measure, he suggests, helps alleviate financial stress and supports farmers in cultivating their lands without undue concerns about debt.

“Furthermore, Maurya divulged, “₹80,848 crore was transferred to 2.63 crore farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.” This impressive transfer of funds signifies the government’s proactive approach to directly aid farmers’ financial stability, enhancing their capacity to invest in their farms, purchase necessary inputs, and secure a better future for themselves and their families”.

“The agricultural sector’s backbone, sugarcane, has also received considerable attention from the government. Maurya proudly shared that a record sugarcane price exceeding ₹2.20 crore has been paid to farmers. This record payment echoes the state’s dedication to rewarding farmers’ hard work and encouraging sustained agricultural productivity”.

In the face of challenges such as fluctuating commodity prices, weather uncertainties, and market dynamics, the Uttar Pradesh government’s initiatives reflect its understanding of the vital role agriculture plays in the state’s economy and society. Keshav Prasad Maurya’s statements highlight the multifaceted approach taken to ensure farmers’ welfare and progress.
