Smooth Wheat Procurement for RMS 2024-25 Surpasses Last Year’s Total

The procurement of wheat during the Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2024-25 is progressing smoothly across major procuring states in India. So far, 262.48 LMT of wheat has been procured for the Central Pool, surpassing last year’s total of 262.02 LMT. This procurement has benefited 22.31 lakh farmers, resulting in an MSP outflow of Rs. 59,715 crores.

Significant contributions to this procurement have come from five states: Punjab (124.26 LMT), Haryana (71.49 LMT), Madhya Pradesh (47.78 LMT), Rajasthan (9.66 LMT), and Uttar Pradesh (9.07 LMT).

Rice procurement is also progressing well, with 728.42 LMT of paddy, equivalent to 489.15 LMT of rice, procured from 98.26 lakh farmers during Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2023-24, with an MSP outflow of approximately Rs. 1,60,472 crores.

The combined stock of wheat and rice in the Central Pool now exceeds 600 LMT, ensuring the country’s readiness to meet food grain requirements under PMGKAY, other welfare schemes, and market interventions.
