SpiceJet: In a dramatic turn of events at Jaipur airport, a SpiceJet staff member was arrested after allegedly assaulting a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer during a dispute over security screening procedures. The incident, captured on CCTV, has ignited a debate involving claims of harassment and misconduct.
According to police reports, the altercation began when the SpiceJet employee, identified as Anuradha Rani, attempted to enter the airport through a vehicle gate without the necessary authorization around 4 am. Assistant Sub Inspector Giriraj Prasad stopped her, citing protocol violations regarding gate usage permissions. Rani was then directed to undergo security screening at another entrance designated for airline crew, but reportedly, no female CISF personnel were available at that time.
Tensions escalated when Rani allegedly faced inappropriate language from ASI Prasad, including unwelcome advances purportedly made by him off-duty. The situation reached a boiling point when Rani, feeling cornered and harassed, purportedly slapped the CISF officer in response to his alleged misconduct.
SpiceJet, in its official statement, defended Rani, asserting that she possessed a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The airline accused the CISF officer of using derogatory language and making improper suggestions, which they claim provoked Rani’s reaction. They have pledged full support to their employee and initiated legal actions against the CISF officer involved.
Jaipur police have registered a case against Anuradha Rani under sections 121 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 132 (assaulting public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Both sides have lodged complaints, with investigations ongoing to ascertain the factual sequence of events.
The incident raises critical questions about airport security protocols, employee rights, and the handling of conflicts between airline personnel and security officers. As investigations proceed, authorities are expected to delve deeper into the circumstances leading to the altercation, ensuring accountability and fair treatment for all parties involved.
