Stock Market LIVE : Nifty breaks 17,000, Sensex down 400 points; Bears Continue!

In today’s stock market updates, the Sensex remained flat while the Nifty index remained above 17,150 points. Adani stocks fell by up to 5%, while M&M shares rose by 2%. The Sensex and Nifty indices opened on a positive note despite weak global cues, with the Sensex gaining 205.55 points or 0.35% to reach 58,443.40 points, and the Nifty rising 44 points or 0.26% to reach 17,198.30 points. Of the 30 stocks in the Sensex pack, 20 were in the green, while 10 declined, with Titan, Bharti Airtel, and L&T being among the major gainers. However, most Asian markets were trading lower due to concerns over the fallout of bank failures in the US. HDFC Securities predicts that the Indian markets may open flat to marginally up despite the negative global trends.

On March 14, the Indian stock market opened with a flat trend, reflecting the weak performance of Asian markets. The Sensex, the benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), declined by 0.20% or 114.36 points to reach 58,123.49, while the Nifty, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) index, dropped by 0.19% or 32 points to stand at 17,122.30. Among the Nifty constituents, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, L&T, ONGC, BPCL, and SBI Life Insurance gained, while Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, M&M, Asian Paints, and IndusInd Bank witnessed losses. The market saw 1033 shares advance, 901 shares decline, and 105 shares remain unchanged.
