The third Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting under the G20 India Presidency had an eventful Day 2, marked by extensive participation from G20 delegates in various sessions. Co-chaired by Australia and Brazil, the meeting focused on crucial topics such as the implementation of Quality Infrastructure Investment (QII) Indicators, enhancing access to urban services, and complementing InfraTracker 2.0.
The day commenced with multiple sessions where G20 delegates actively engaged in discussions. The implementation of QII Indicators took center stage, aiming to establish a framework for assessing infrastructure projects based on factors like economic viability, sustainability, and resilience. Delegates shared insights and best practices from their respective countries, fostering a collaborative approach to infrastructure development.
Another important session revolved around enhancing access to urban services. As urbanization continues to rise globally, providing efficient and inclusive urban services becomes paramount. G20 delegates deliberated on strategies to ensure equitable access to essential services like transportation, water, energy, and housing, with a focus on sustainable and innovative solutions.
Parallel to these discussions, the IWG meeting also witnessed the complementing of InfraTracker 2.0. This advanced infrastructure tracking tool enables real-time monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of infrastructure projects. Delegates explored its potential to enhance transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in infrastructure planning and implementation.
Later in the day, a roundtable discussion titled “Making India MRO Hub” was organized by MoCA_India (Ministry of Civil Aviation, India). The session featured an address by Shri Solomon Arokiaraj, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, FinMinIndia. The focus of the discussion was to explore India’s potential as a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) hub, showcasing opportunities and strategies to attract investments and foster growth in the aviation sector.
The day concluded on a high note with a friendly cricket match between the G20 delegates and the Jawans (soldiers) of the Uttarakhand Police. The match was organized by the District Administration and Sports Department, bringing together participants in a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
