An Indian actor and politician who appeared in Hindi films, Suresh Oberoi was born on 17 December 1946. The 1987 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor was given to him. His career started in radio shows, followed by modeling, and later moving to Bollywood, which made him a popular character actor in the 1980s and much of the 1990s. Suresh Oberoi is the father of actor Vivek Oberoi.

Oberoi was born on 17 December 1946 in Quetta, then Baluchistan Province of pre-partitioned British India, to Anand Sarup Oberoi, a Khatri, and Kartar Devi. Oberoi was active in sports and attended St. George’s Grammar School in Hyderabad. Later, he won the President’s Award as a Boy Scout after having been a Tennis and swimming champion.
