Tamil Delegates from Kashi Tamil Sangamam Phase II Explore Varanasi’s Spiritual Heritage

A delegation from the Tamil community, representing the second phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam, embarked on a profound journey in Varanasi. The delegates commenced their visit by experiencing the spiritual sanctity of Hanuman Ghat, where they participated in a holy dip in the sacred Ganges. Acharyas present at the ghat enlightened the group with narratives about the historical significance of various ghats in Varanasi.

Subsequently, the delegates explored the ancient temples situated along the ghats, delving into the rich history, divinity, and grandeur that these structures hold. The visit extended to the residence of Shri Subramanya Bharati at Hanuman Ghat, where the group had the privilege of meeting his family members. Additionally, the delegates paid a visit to the Kanchi Math, immersing themselves in the history of this revered institution.

The delegation discovered the profound connection between Kashi and Tamil Nadu. Exploring areas around Hanuman Ghat, Kedar Ghat, and Harishchandra Ghat, they encountered Tamil families who have resided there for generations, embodying the spirit of Kasi Tamil Sangamam.

The second phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam is scheduled to continue until December 30, 2023. In the previous year, the inaugural phase took place from November 16 to December 16, 2022. Around 1400 individuals, organized into seven groups of 200 persons each, are anticipated to travel from diverse parts of Tamil Nadu, representing various walks of life. As part of their itinerary in Kashi, the delegates will also visit Prayagraj and Ayodhya.
