The Vande Bharat Express flagged off from Nagpur Railway Station by PM.

On November 11, 2022, PM Modi said” the fifth Vande Bharat Express train will be flagged off from Mysuru to Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR Chennai Central by PM Modi. This train will be a huge boon for travelers as it will cut down travel time by almost half. The Vande Bharat Express is a world-class train and it is a great initiative by the Government of India”.

“After inspecting the train coaches of the Vande Bharat Express, the Prime Minister took stock of the onboard facilities. After inspecting the control center of the locomotive engine of Vande Bharat Express, Shri Modi took stock of the development plans of the Nagpur and Ajni Railway Stations”.

The travel time from Nagpur to Bilaspur will be reduced by 1 hour and 30 minutes, from 7-8 hours.

When the Prime Minister arrived at Nagpur Railway Station, he was accompanied by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde, the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, and the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari.

Background

A new train will make visiting the area more comfortable and faster, which will likely increase tourism. The travel time from Nagpur to Bilaspur is 5 hours and 30 minutes.

This is the sixth Vande Bharat train to be introduced in the country and is an advanced version compared to the earlier ones. It is much lighter and capable of reaching higher speeds in a shorter duration. Vande Bharat 2.0 has more advancements and improved features, such as the ability to go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 52 seconds, and a maximum speed of up to 180 kilometers per hour.

The previous version of the Vande Bharat Express weighed 430 tons, while the improved version will only weigh 392 tons. It will also have an on-demand Wi-Fi content facility.

The new version of the coach has 32” screens providing passenger information and infotainment compared to the 24” screens in the previous version.

The Vande Bharat Express will also be more environmentally friendly as the ACs will use 15 percent less energy. The traction motor will be cooled by clean air, making travel more comfortable.

The side recliner seat facility that was only available to Executive Class passengers will now be made available to all classes. Executive Coaches have seats that rotate 180 degrees.
