TRA Reviews Exemption For UK Bicycle Parts Importer.

On February 22nd, 2023, the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) announced that it has begun reviewing an application from MiRider, a UK-based importer, to be exempted from an anti-dumping duty on certain bicycle parts from China. MiRider has submitted its application, stating that it is not associated with any overseas exporter that is subject to the measure, nor is it engaged in circumventing the measure.

Since the TRA has accepted the application for review, it will advise the Secretary of State for Business and Trade to implement a temporary suspension of the duty for MiRider’s goods until the review is completed. Once the review is complete and the TRA has verified the evidence, it may recommend to the Secretary of State to exempt MiRider’s goods from the duty.

It is important to note that the anti-dumping measure on certain bicycle parts from China was introduced when the UK left the EU. The TRA is required to conduct a Transition Review on this anti-dumping measure before August 30th, 2024.
