Born in 1827, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule is celebrated for his relentless efforts in promoting education, particularly among marginalized communities and women. He and his wife, Savitribai Phule, were trailblazers who established schools for girls, challenging the orthodox norms of their time. Phule also founded the Satyashodhak Samaj (Society of Truth Seekers) in 1873 to fight social injustice and champion equality.
CM Yogi highlighted these achievements in his tribute, stating, “Mahatma Jyotirao Phule’s work is a guide for the entire humanity. His commitment to social justice and equality is a lesson in courage & resilience.”
