UIDAI Has Launched A “Resident Friendly” Facility To Update Addresses In Aadhaar Online.

The UIDAI has put in place a resident-friendly facility to help them update their address in their Aadhaar online with the consent of the Head of the Family.

The Hall of Fame’s online address update in Aadhaar will be of great help to relatives of a resident, like children, spouses, parents, etc., who don’t have supporting documents in their own name to update their address in Aadhaar.

The following documents can be submitted as proof of relationship: Ration Card, Marksheet, Marriage Certificate, Passport, etc. The HOF requires OTP-based authentication for both the applicant and HOF.

The HOF requires OTP-based authentication for both the applicant and the HOF. The relationship between the applicant and the HOF is based on authentication by the HOF. If even the Proof of Relationship document is not available, UIDAI provides the resident with the option to submit a self-declaration by the HOF in the UIDAI-prescribed format.

A facility such as this would be beneficial for millions of people who move to cities and towns within the country for various reasons. In addition to the existing address update facility that uses any valid Proof of Address document prescribed by UIDAI, this choice would be available. Any resident above the age of 18 can share his/her address with relatives through this process.

On the ‘My Aadhaar’ portal (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in), a resident can choose the ‘Update Address Online option. The resident will be allowed to enter the Aadhaar number of the HOF after which it will only be validated. To maintain adequate privacy for the HOF, no other information about the HOF’s Aadhaar will be displayed on the screen.

After the Aadhaar number of the head of household is successfully validated, the resident will be required to upload a Proof of Relationship document.

The service costs 50 rupees. Upon successful payment, the resident would be given a service request number (SRN), and an SMS would be sent to the head of the household about the address request.

The HOF will be notified of the request and will have 30 days to log into the My Aadhaar portal and approve the request. If the HOF does not approve the request within 30 days, the request will be processed.

If the HOF rejects sharing their address or does not accept or decline within the stipulated 30 days of SRN creation, the request would be closed. If the resident seeks to update their address through this option, they will be informed about the closure of the request via an SMS.

If the request is closed or rejected due to non-acceptance of the HOF or rejected during the process, the amount shall not be refunded to the applicant.
