Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has authorized a funding allocation of 553.12 crore for the development and 4-laning of two crucial sections on National Highway-34 in West Bengal. This project encompasses the Krishnagar-Behrampore and Barasat-Barajaguli segments, covering Nadia, Murshidabad, and North 24 Parganas districts, with a cumulative length of 28.23 kilometers under the NH(O) plan.
“The initiative, aimed at enhancing these roadway segments, primarily targets the alleviation of congestion on the existing 2-lane highway. By expanding the infrastructure to a 4-lane configuration, the project seeks to facilitate a more efficient movement of freight from South Bengal to North Bengal, thereby streamlining transportation and bolstering regional connectivity”.
The development of the Krishnagar-Behrampore and Barasat-Barajaguli sections on NH-34 is a significant step towards modernizing the region’s transportation network and catering to the evolving needs of industries and commuters alike. The project aligns with the government’s broader vision of fostering sustainable development and facilitating seamless connectivity across the country.
