Loganathan Dr. L. Murugan, born on May 29, 1977, in Konur, Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu, is a prominent Indian politician and advocate. Currently, he serves as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Before his appointment as a Union Minister of State on July 7, 2021, Dr. Murugan was the state president of the Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Dr. Murugan hails from a Telugu-speaking Arunthathiyar family. He pursued his law degree at Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law College in Chennai and later earned his master’s degree and PhD from the University of Madras. His engagement with the Hindutva ideology began during his college years in 1997 when he joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and subsequently the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
