The mission’s primary objective is to create an ecosystem that empowers women economically, helping them become self-sufficient contributors to their households and communities. The government of Uttar Pradesh has set an ambitious target of making 30 lakh women in the state millionaires through this initiative. Remarkably, the state has already achieved a significant milestone, surpassing the target by enabling 10.45 lakh women to earn an income of over one lakh rupees.
“To achieve this commendable feat, various avenues of economic empowerment have been explored. Women are being linked with initiatives like Agriculture Sakhi, where they are engaged in agricultural activities, and Banking Sakhi, facilitating access to financial services. The Vidyut Sakhi program equips women to contribute to the energy sector, while the Balinese Milk Producers Association empowers them in the dairy industry. Additionally, the Handicraft Company initiative taps into the artistic skills of women, promoting their creations and boosting their economic prospects”.
