As India braces for diverse weather phenomena, meteorological agencies have issued forecasts and warnings for the upcoming days. A Western Disturbance over Iran and surrounding regions, coupled with moisture influx from the Arabian Sea, is expected to influence weather patterns across several parts of the country.
The Western Himalayan Region and plains of northwest India are likely to experience heavy rainfall and snowfall from February 29th to March 3rd, with peak intensity anticipated on March 1st and 2nd, 2024. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are forecasted over these areas during this period.
Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and north Madhya Pradesh are expected to witness scattered to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall on specific dates. Hailstorm activity is also anticipated in some areas.
Additionally, strong surface winds are likely to prevail over Northwest India on March 1st and 2nd, posing potential challenges.
Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation over northeast Bangladesh is expected to bring isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in the next few days.
In contrast, hot and humid weather is forecasted over Kerala for the next two days, while Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh is likely to experience similar conditions from March 1st to 3rd, 2024.
