Upholding Development: Uttar Pradesh’s Ongoing Efforts in Riverbed Mineral Conservation

The state of Uttar Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, continues its steadfast pursuit of comprehensive development. In this endeavor, the government has placed significant emphasis on the improvement of river water quality and the preservation of vital riverbed minerals. The state’s commitment to these goals is evident through the dedicated efforts made to cleanse the Ganga River in recent years and the subsequent extension of these initiatives to other rivers.

Surveying Ghaghra and Gomti Riverbeds

In line with this vision, the Mining Department of Uttar Pradesh has initiated a comprehensive survey to assess the status of minerals located in the riverbeds of Ghaghra and Gomti rivers in the Barabanki district. This survey will encompass a total of nine areas, including seven along the banks of Ghaghra River and two along the banks of the Gomti River.

The primary objective of this survey is to determine the changes that have occurred in the condition of riverbed minerals over the last few years. Additionally, it aims to establish the requirements for replenishment and conservation of these valuable resources.

Scope and Process

The survey will encompass a total area of 47.53 hectares, with 34.91 hectares dedicated to the Ghaghra River and 12.62 hectares allocated to the Gomti River. The District Magistrate will preside over the survey, and the findings will be incorporated into the District Survey Report (DSR) of Barabanki.

To facilitate this undertaking, the Mining Department will engage an agency approved by the National Accreditation Board for Educational Training (NABET) and the Quality Council of India (QCI). The process of selecting the agency is already in progress, and the final allocation of this work will be determined through the e-tender portal.

Cost and Guidelines

The agencies participating in the survey have been provided with clear instructions regarding cost and guidelines. The Uttar Pradesh government has stipulated that a maximum of Rs 14,514 per hectare will be provided for the modification and replenishment study of minerals in the state’s riverbeds. Agencies willing to participate must conduct the work within this cost limit.

E-Tender Process

To participate in this initiative, interested agencies are required to submit applications on the e-tender portal between October 25 and November 1. A nominal application fee of Rs 1,100 is applicable, and the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) for this tender is set at Rs 14,000.

Qualifications and Responsibility

Applicants must possess a minimum of three years of experience in related work to be considered for the project. Once all prerequisites are met, the survey work will be assigned in adherence to the guidelines established by the Uttar Pradesh government. The District Magistrate of Barabanki and the Mining Department will jointly oversee the execution of this initiative, ensuring its successful implementation.

Uttar Pradesh’s continued commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable resource management exemplifies its dedication to comprehensive development and the well-being of its residents. Initiatives like the survey of riverbed minerals in Barabanki district underscore the state’s vision for progress and its unwavering commitment to responsible governance.
