Urmila Matondkar, born on February 4th, 1974, is an Indian actress and politician. She has received numerous accolades, including the Filmfare Award and the Nandi Award, for her work in Hindi films, in addition to Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi and Tamil cinema. She was known for her intense style of acting and dancing skills, and established a distinctive on-screen persona.
Matondkar made her debut as a child in the 1977 film Karm, and gained wide recognition with Masoom (1983). She appeared in few other films after that. Her first lead role came in the Malayalam film Chanakyan (1989), and her subsequent lead role in Hindi cinema was in the action drama Narsimha (1991), both of which were commercial successes.
