New Delhi, December 26, 2023: PM Modi, addressed the ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ program at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, celebrating the courage and sacrifice of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh, sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The occasion witnessed martial arts displays and a march-past by youth in Delhi.
Reflecting on the immortal sacrifices of Veer Sahibzade, PM Modi marked the unfolding of a new chapter of Veer Bal Diwas in India’s Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal. He emphasized the day’s significance as a symbol of unwavering determination to protect Bhartiyata, highlighting that age is no bar to heights of bravery.
Paying tribute to the heritage of Sikh Gurus, especially Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his four Veer Sahibzades, PM Modi underlined their enduring impact. He stated that Veer Bal Diwas is a national tribute to mothers who gave birth to Bravehearts, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the family of Baba Moti Ram Mehra and the devotion of Diwan Todarmal.
“Expressing delight, PM Modi mentioned the international celebration of Veer Bal Diwas in the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, and Greece. He recalled the historical battles of Chamkaur and Sirhind, emphasizing India’s dignified response to cruelty and despotism”.
PM Modi highlighted the evolving global perception of India’s heritage and values. He expressed satisfaction that contemporary India is shedding the mentality of slavery and trusting in its capabilities. Stressing that the sacrifice of Sahibzadas is a source of inspiration, PM Modi invoked the names of other national heroes like Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Gobind Guru, Nachiketa, Abhimanyu, and more.
“Focusing on India’s potential, PM Modi declared the next 25 years as a period of tremendous opportunities for the youth. He outlined the government’s vision through initiatives like the National Education Policy, Atal Tinkering Labs, and a thriving startup culture. The Prime Minister applauded the success of Indian athletes, crediting the Khelo India campaign for providing facilities and transparent selection processes”.
PM Modi urged the youth to prioritize health and adhere to ground rules for physical exercise, digital detox, mental fitness, sleep, and a balanced diet. He addressed the challenge of drug abuse, calling for a collective effort by society, government, and religious leaders to combat the menace.
“Closing his address, PM Modi encouraged youth to register on the MY-Bharat portal, emphasizing the platform’s role in empowering the younger generation. He invoked the teachings of ‘Sabka Prayas,’ imparted by the Gurus, as the key to making India a developed nation”.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, were present at the event.
The government organized various programs nationwide to educate citizens, especially children, about the exemplary courage of Sahibzades, including digital exhibitions and interactive quizzes.
