Delhi: In a ceremony marking the inauguration of the NCC Republic Day Camp-2024 in New Delhi today, Vice-President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar praised the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for its pivotal role in fostering youth development and contributing to national progress. Addressing a gathering that included NCC cadets from across the country, the Vice-President lauded the organization for channeling the energy of the youth towards positivity and described the cadets as crucial stakeholders in the rise of Bharat, serving as role models for the nation’s youth.
Recalling his own experience as an NCC cadet, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized the enduring nature of the cadet spirit, stating that it remains eternal and lasting. He urged the cadets to uphold the highest standards of dignity and work with enthusiasm, courage, and dedication to contribute towards making India a fully developed nation and a global leader by 2047.
Reflecting on the impact of NCC cadets in various national initiatives, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar commended their involvement in campaigns such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, digital transactions, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and environmental conservation. He highlighted the role of NCC in facilitating the organic growth of cadets as ambassadors for national awareness campaigns, promoting integration across cultural, religious, and geographical lines.
Acknowledging the increasing participation of female cadets within the NCC, the Vice-President proudly announced that female cadets would march down the Kartavya Path in two exclusive contingents, accompanied by two female bands during the Republic Day celebrations.
As part of the inauguration, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar visited the flag area, which showcased tableaus representing different NCC directorates. He also toured the NCC’s ‘Hall of Fame’ and enjoyed a mesmerizing cultural performance by the cadets. The event was attended by Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, AVSM, VSM, Director General of NCC, and senior officials from the tri-services.
