An Indian actor in Indian films, Vinod Mehra (13 February 1945 – 30 October 1990) was known for his work in Hindi cinema. He started his film career as an adult in 1971, but he started out as a child actor in the late 1950s. He acted in over 100 films from 1970 to his death in 1990. The film Gurudev was released 3 years after his death and he was the producer and director.

A Punjabi family welcomed Vinod Mehra into the world in Amritsar, in 1945. His father’s name was Parameshwaridas Mehra and his mother’s name was Kamala Mehra. After independence, Parameshwaridas shifted the family’s base to Bombay because he had business interests there.

Before Mehra started his career in the 1970s, his elder sister Sharda had already appeared in several films. Mehra completed his schooling at Sacred Heart Boys High School in Santacruz and later earned a Bachelor’s degree from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai.
