Vishnu Deo Sai: CM of Chhattisgarh turns 60 today

Vishnu Deo Sai, born on February 21, 1964, into a farmer’s family in Bagia village, Jashpur district, has carved a remarkable path in Indian politics. Hailing from the Kanwar tribe, he embodies the aspirations of tribal communities in Chhattisgarh.

His political journey began at the grassroots of Bagia village, where he honed his leadership skills and earned the trust of the people. Sai’s commitment to serving his community propelled him into larger arenas of public service.

Vishnu Deo Sai’s political career saw him serve as a Member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly for two terms from 1990 to 1998. He then transitioned to national politics, representing Chhattisgarh in the Lok Sabha from 1999 to 2014, where he diligently served on various parliamentary committees.

In recognition of his dedication and leadership, Vishnu Deo Sai was appointed Union Minister of State for Mines and Steel in 2014, marking a significant milestone in his career. He continued to excel in ministerial roles, contributing to the nation’s development agenda.

Returning to state politics, Sai was elected to the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly in December 2023. His ascent to the position of Chief Minister on December 10, 2023, marked a historic moment, as he became the first tribal leader to hold the esteemed post in Chhattisgarh.
