Vivo India marks a significant milestone with the commissioning of phase-1 of its mobile manufacturing plant in YEIDA Sec-24A. Spanning across a vast 169-acre campus, the facility will also house the Vivo Knowledge Park, contributing to technological innovation and skill development in the region.
As one of the pioneering projects in YEIDA, the land allotment for Vivo’s manufacturing plant was initiated in 2018 following the first Investors Summit. With an initial capacity of approximately 6.5 crores of smartphones annually in phase 1, the plant’s production is set to escalate to 14.5 crores in phase 2, reflecting Vivo’s commitment to expansion and growth.
The investment in phase 1 amounts to ₹3955 crores, with a total projected investment of ₹7500 crores for the entire project. This substantial investment underscores Vivo’s confidence in the Indian market and its dedication to fostering local manufacturing capabilities.
“Moreover, the plant is expected to generate employment opportunities for approximately 5000 individuals in Phase 1, with an estimated workforce of 25000 upon completion of Phase 2. This significant employment boost will not only contribute to the local economy but also support the government’s initiatives towards job creation and skill development”.
Vivo India’s initiative heralds a new era of technological advancement and economic prosperity in YEIDA. With its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and ambitious expansion plans, Vivo is poised to play a pivotal role in India’s journey towards becoming a global manufacturing hub for smartphones.
