A traveler posted a video on X (formerly Twitter), revealing water dripping from the panel gaps of the overhead storage, impacting some seats. The accompanying caption, “Air India… fly with us – it’s not a trip; it’s an immersive experience,” took a dig at the airline, formerly government-run but acquired by Tata Sons in October 2021.
Air India, in a subsequent statement, clarified that flight AI169, flying from Gatwick to Amritsar on November 24, experienced a “rare occurrence of condensation adjustment inside the cabin.” The airline promptly relocated affected passengers to other vacant seats, with the crew making every effort to ensure their comfort.
The commitment to passenger safety and comfort was reiterated by Air India in the statement: “Air India is committed to the safety and comfort of guests on board, and we regret this unexpected incident.”
