Stay Prepared: Weather Forecast & Warnings for the Next Days

As we transition into the last week of April 2024, it’s crucial to remain vigilant and prepared for the dynamic weather patterns expected across different parts of India. From cyclonic circulations to Western Disturbances, various systems are set to influence the weather, bringing with them a range of conditions from rainfall to heat waves. Here’s what to expect in the coming days:

Cyclonic Circulations and Troughs:

A cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, extending to the Bay of Bengal, along with another circulation over northeast Assam, will lead to widespread rainfall in several regions. Arunachal Pradesh is expected to experience fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. Additionally, isolated to scattered rainfall is forecasted over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during this period.

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha are likely to witness isolated light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds. Arunachal Pradesh may also see isolated heavy rainfall on specific days during this period.

Western Disturbance Impact:

A fresh Western Disturbance is anticipated to affect northwest India, triggering scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. There’s a possibility of hailstorms over certain regions, including Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and East Rajasthan may experience isolated rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds. Moreover, Punjab and Haryana might encounter isolated hailstorms.

Trough/Wind Discontinuity:

A trough/wind discontinuity stretching from Madhya Maharashtra to Kerala across Karnataka will bring isolated light rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds over various regions, including Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Kerala, Mahe, Interior Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.

Maximum Temperature Observation and Forecast:

Several regions experienced high maximum temperatures in the range of 40-44°C, with some areas recording temperatures above normal by 3-5°C. Rayalaseema, south Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and north Tamil Nadu witnessed particularly high temperatures. Over the next five days, similar conditions are expected to persist in certain pockets across Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and other regions.

Heat Wave, Warm Night, & Hot and Humid Weather Warning:

Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions is likely to prevail in pockets across Gangetic West Bengal, coastal Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Konkan, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, West Uttar Pradesh, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam. Hot and humid weather is anticipated in several regions, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam. Moreover, warm night conditions are expected in Odisha.
