Weather: As we move into the first week of February, weather patterns are set to undergo significant changes in northwest India due to the influence of two Western Disturbances. Residents in various states need to stay alert as the weather forecast for the next five days indicates a series of impactful events.
Rainfall and Snowfall Forecast:
Expect light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall and snowfall in regions including Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during the initial four days (01st to 04th February). Following this period, precipitation is anticipated to decrease significantly.
Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is likely over Kashmir valley, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on 01st February 2024.
Thunderstorm and Winds:
Moderate to intense thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph (gusting to 50 kmph), are expected in various areas, including Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh on 01st February.
Strong and chilly surface winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph are predicted over Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on the same day.
Eastern Regions Weather Forecast:
A different set of weather conditions is expected in the eastern regions. Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall during the next 7 days (01st to 07th February).
Isolated to scattered rainfall is expected over West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur & Tripura during 01st to 02nd February. Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is anticipated over Arunachal Pradesh on 02nd February.
Dense Fog and Cold Day Warning:
Dense to very dense fog conditions are forecasted over some parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on 02nd February and in isolated pockets on 03rd February.
Uttar Pradesh is expected to experience dense to very dense fog conditions during 01st-03rd February. Isolated pockets in Odisha, north Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar may also encounter dense fog for a few hours in the morning on specific dates. No Cold Day conditions are expected over any part of the country during the next five days.
Minimum Temperature Forecast and Cold Wave Warning:
Minimal changes in minimum temperatures are predicted over most parts of the country during the next 4-5 days. However, no cold wave conditions are anticipated during this period.
