Western Disturbance Impact:

A Western Disturbance, manifesting as a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies, is anticipated to extend along longitudes 65°E to the north of latitude 30°N. This disturbance is expected to bring isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand over the next few days.

Cyclonic Circulation Influence:

In tandem with the Western Disturbance, cyclonic circulations over northeast Rajasthan and neighboring areas, as well as north Bangladesh and east Assam, are poised to impact several regions. Anticipated effects include widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Heavy rainfall and snowfall are forecasted for specific dates, with potential heavy falls particularly concentrated in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

Trough/Wind Discontinuity Impact:

A wind discontinuity stretching from southern Tamil Nadu to southeastern Madhya Pradesh is anticipated to impact weather conditions, resulting in scattered light rainfall across several areas. These areas encompass Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe.

Temperature Observations and Forecast:

Maximum temperatures have soared to between 40-42°C in numerous areas, exceeding the 98th percentile in isolated pockets of north Uttar Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, and Kerala. Over the next five days, temperatures are expected to remain elevated, with isolated pockets likely to experience temperatures surpassing the 98th percentile in certain regions of Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Kerala, and north interior Tamil Nadu.

Heatwave, Warm Night, and Hot & Humid Weather Warnings:

Heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in isolated pockets across several regions including North Interior Karnataka, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Vidarbha on April 5th and 6th, 2024. Additionally, warm night conditions and hot and humid weather are forecasted for specific regions over the next five days, necessitating precautions to mitigate potential adverse effects.
