Weather: The Weather trough is currently active and situated south of its normal position in the lower tropospheric levels. Additionally, a shear zone extends over north peninsular India in the middle levels, tilting southwards with height. A cyclonic circulation is observed over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off the north Andhra Pradesh coast, both in lower and middle tropospheric levels, tilting southwestwards with height. Moreover, an off-shore trough at mean sea level runs along the south Gujarat-north Kerala coasts.

Weather Forecast & Warnings for West and South Peninsular India

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Coastal Karnataka. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Marathwada, Gujarat Region, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, and Interior Karnataka. Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is anticipated over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Rayalaseema during the next five days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra on the 10th; Gujarat Region and Marathwada on the 9th; Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and North & South Interior Karnataka on the 9th, 11th, 12th, and 13th; Telangana on the 9th, 12th, and 13th; and Coastal Karnataka on the 10th and 11th of July. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also very likely over Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on the 9th, 11th, 12th, and 13th, and over Coastal Karnataka on the 9th, 12th, and 13th of July.

Weather Forecast & Warnings for East & Northeast India

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, and Northeast India. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha during the next five days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya during the 9th–13th; Jharkhand on the 12th & 13th; and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during the 9th–11th of July. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on the 12th & 13th; Bihar during the 10th–13th; and Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya during the 9th–11th of July. Additionally, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on the 10th & 11th and Arunachal Pradesh on the 9th of July.

Forecast & Warnings for Northwest & Central India

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Central India. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain is expected over Himachal Pradesh and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, while isolated to scattered light to moderate rain is anticipated over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab, and Rajasthan during the next five days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on the 12th & 13th; Himachal Pradesh during the 11th-13th; Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh & East Uttar Pradesh during the 9th–13th; East Rajasthan on the 9th; and Vidarbha on the 9th & 10th of July. Very heavy rainfall is likely over West Uttar Pradesh & West Madhya Pradesh on the 11th, and East Uttar Pradesh & East Madhya Pradesh on the 10th & 11th of July.
