Weather Forecast: Heavy Rainfall Across India from 1st to 5th August 2023

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued its weather forecast for the period from 1st to 5th August 2023, covering various regions across the country. The projections indicate the likelihood of rainfall, heavy showers, and isolated very heavy rainfall in different parts of India during the mentioned dates.

Northwest India:

  • Dates: 1st to 5th August
  • Forecast: Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh during this period. Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh may witness such conditions from the 2nd to the 5th of August. Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan are likely to experience rainfall on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of August, while Punjab may receive rainfall on the 3rd of August. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also probable over Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh on the 2nd and 3rd of August, and East Uttar Pradesh on the 2nd of August.

Central India:

  • Dates: 1st to 3rd August
  • Forecast: East Madhya Pradesh may experience light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall from 1st to 3rd August. North Chhattisgarh may witness similar conditions on the 1st and 2nd of August, while Northwest Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha may receive rainfall on the 2nd and 3rd of August. Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over East Madhya Pradesh on 2nd August.

East India:

  • Dates: 1st to 5th August
  • Forecast: From 1st to 5th August, Bihar is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy downpours at isolated locations, covering a fairly widespread area. Odisha may experience such conditions from 1st to 3rd August, while Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand may have rainfall from 1st to 2nd August. Sub-Himalaya West Bengal & Sikkim may receive rainfall from the 3rd to the 5th of August. Isolated very heavy rainfall is probable over Odisha, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal on the 1st and 2nd of August, and Sub-Himalaya West Bengal & Sikkim from 3rd-5th August.

Northeast India:

  • Dates: Next 5 days with isolated very heavy rainfall on 3rd-5th August
  • Forecast: Over the next five days, there is a likelihood of light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy showers over the region. There is a possibility of isolated very heavy rainfall from the 3rd to the 5th of August.

West India:

  • Dates: Next 5 days with very heavy rainfall on 3rd August
  • Forecast: Light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Konkan & Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra for the next five days, with the possibility of very heavy rainfall on 3rd August.

South India:

  • Dates: 2nd to 5th August
  • Forecast: There is a high probability of light to moderate widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall over Coastal Karnataka from 2nd to 5th August. The remaining regions may experience subdued rainfall activity during this period.
