Weather Forecast: Rainfall and Thunderstorms Across India

The upcoming week brings a mix of weather patterns across different regions of India, influenced by various weather systems. Here’s what to expect:

  • Gangetic West Bengal: Scattered to widespread rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely from March 18th to 21st, with the possibility of hailstorms and squalls on March 19th.
  • Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar: Expect scattered to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds from March 18th to 21st. Isolated hailstorms are also likely in some areas.
  • Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand: Isolated heavy rainfall is expected on March 19th and 20th.
  • Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura: Scattered to widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is forecasted from March 18th to 23rd.
  • Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam: Similar conditions with scattered to widespread rainfall and isolated heavy rainfall on March 20th.
  • Marathwada: Isolated light rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is anticipated on March 19th.

Furthermore, a fresh feeble Western Disturbance is expected to affect the western Himalayan region from the night of March 20th, resulting in isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall in certain areas.

In terms of temperatures:

  • Maximum temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 2-4°C over Northwest India & Gujarat during the next 3-4 days.
  • A fall in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C is likely over Central East India during the next 2 days.
  • No significant changes are anticipated in maximum temperatures over East India for the next 2 days, followed by a decline of 2-4°C thereafter.
  • The rest of the country is expected to experience no significant changes in maximum temperatures over the next 5 days.
